About the Founder
Sumathi Natarajan was born in 1987 near Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. After moving to Chennai in 2007 following her marriage, she began exploring creative skills such as fashion jewellery making, tailoring, and eventually Aari embroidery.
She started selling Aari materials from her home, quickly gaining trust for her product quality and customer understanding. Today, that humble beginning has transformed into a registered retail business — Sumathi Craft Stores.
The store now serves professional designers, tailors, embroidery artists, and hobbyists across India. Through her work, Sumathi continues to preserve Tamil Nadu’s traditional textile crafts while supporting India’s creative community.
